North West Leicestershire is at the Heart of the National Forest with gentle landscapes to explore by foot or cycle. There is a wealth of wildlife, historic houses, exciting discovery centres, award winning museums and tranquil waterways. 

Over the last ten years this area has been transformed from one of the least wooded parts of the UK to an area with ancient and maturing woodlands providing habitats for wildlife with a landscape for locals and visitors to enjoy. Millions of trees have been planted providing country parks in what were previously open cast coalfields. 

Activities, festivals and events are happening throughout the year so there is always plenty to do.
