Is a historic settlement lying just over a mile away from the centre of Coalville, and merges with the adjacent village of Hugglescote .
As early as 1220, Hugglescote and Doninton le Heath both had small chapelries which were under the jurisdiction of Ibstock. By the 18th Century the buildings were practically in ruins. St Peter’s , Donington was demolished about 1770 and never replaced.
The Manor House was built in 1280 and is one of England’s oldest houses. The original roof frames have survived and are an outstanding feature of the property. It has also been established that the building has Saxon foundations. The building has been renovated by Leicestershire County Council with gardens that have been re-created in a 17th Century style. It is open to the public.

The Manor House also houses the stone barn Classics Tea Room, which serves home made cakes, light meals and refreshments.
