North West Leicestershire is at the very heart of the National Forest. A tree has been planted at Moira to mark the spot.

Embracing 200 square miles of Central England, The National Forest is taking root across parts of Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Staffordshire.

Come and Join Us

The National Forest is a symbol of hope for the nation. It is also very much a child of it's time. It reflects the growing awareness of our need to protect and cherish our environment, our desire to pass it on undamaged and even enhanced for future generations.

Each year hundreds of people from all across the country, help us by planting a tree, or group of trees. They know their tree will be a part of a forest that is absorbing carbon and reducing the impact of climate change. They know their forest is a place of beauty for people of all ages to enjoy.

The National Forest is transforming the landscape with the aim of linking the two ancient Forests of Charnwood to the east and Needwood Forest to the west. Within it's boundary are miles of rolling farmland and the former Midlands Coalfield which has been regenerated.

Forest towns include Coalville formerly associated with coal mining and the historic towns of Ashby de la Zouch and Castle Donington. Villages such as Ibstock, Measham and Moira have been transformed and can now offer space to relax, walk or cycle in the beautiful National Forest countryside.
